Sonar S208 Stabilizer

Plano, loose, and fast, the new S208 stabilizer is another high-performance upgrade of the Sonar Foil system for experienced cyclists. The S208 has a higher aspect ratio than the S210, which means less drag, and the flatter roundness (front view) allows for greater maneuverability.

As we increased the reach of the front wing, we needed to match the lift force of the front wing with that of the stabilizer. While the front wing generates vertical lift, the stabilizer has a force acting downward, which prevents the front wing from nosediving.

A larger stabilizer translates to more pressure on the front foot, while a smaller stabilizer equates to less pressure on the front foot. The North Stabs are mounted on top of the fuselage, which helps them avoid the turbulence from the front wing's airflow, creating a smoother ride.

This top mounting also gives the cyclist an early warning of failure: the stab first pierces the surface of the water, giving them a better chance to recover before the front wing rises too much.

Like the front wings, all Sonar stabilizers are made of pre-impregnated carbon, ensuring optimal stiffness and direct performance. The thin section of the profile reduces drag, while the material properties help maintain structural integrity and stiffness. The stabs have a significant influence on performance.

As you move towards smaller wing sizes, we recommend switching to a smaller stabilizer for better maneuverability. Experienced riders will really feel the difference. A new tail can have a big impact on your style.
