Best Surf Beaches in Catalonia

Mejores playas de Surf Cataluña

Next, I will list the best beaches for surfing on the Costa Brava.

You should take into account its orientation since depending on the Swell entry, some can be sectioned while others are completely flat.

In my particular case, I usually roam around the "Baix Empordà" area, but I also know firsthand that there are good spots in the Blanes and Alt Empordà areas, which I will mention in the list even though I don't know them as well.

Let's start with what I know perfectly:

Baix Empordà Zone

This area is perfect for all Swell directions with sandy bottoms free of dangerous rocks.

L'Estartit

L'Estartit is one of my favorite places to go whenever the forecast allows, with several peaks where I can enter and practice lefts and rights.

How good goofy I love to tie myself to the wave face to face hehe

Sand background where from the sea you will see the pier of the port to the right.

Look for where the wave breaks and there you will have the perfect peak all session long.

Griells

Next to L'Estartit it usually works well, depending on the orientation of the Swell. Similar conditions to the previous Spot.

If L'Estartit or Pals fails, come see this place, plus there usually aren't many people, so take advantage ;D

Pals

Pals is a strange spot, and it depends a lot on the condition of the sandy bottom and the swell entry. When I started, it was a top spot, but nowadays I rarely go in since from the Storm Gloria the background changed.

La Fosca

The fosca is a spot that if it doesn't work in Estartit, it is most likely to work there due to the orientation of the Swell.

It is a crowded spot with a very good Right.

Very similar to the Forum Barceloneta spot, due to the number of people and the vibe that is created.

Torrevalentina

A spot that I've been really liking lately. Very similar to L'Estartit but with the opposite swell.

S'Agaró

When it works in Torrevalentina, it is a spot that usually works with waves very organizedIt is due to the U-shaped cove.

Alt Empordà Zone

This is an area I know but I usually go if there is a friend in the water and I have time, since from Girona it takes at least 45 minutes.
