Consejos y guía para elegir una tabla de wing foil

Are you wondering what the ideal board for wing foiling is?

That one that will allow you to start, enjoy, and progress without the need for large investments?

The choice of the board for wing foil is crucial in the learning process.

Although there is a lot of talk about the sail and the foil, the board is just as vital as the wing or the foil.

Factors that influence the selection of the table

  1. Volume
    • The volume, determined by the user's weight, is the main factor. The basic rule is to add 30 to the user's weight to obtain the ideal volume of the wing foil board.
    • For example, for a user under 60 kg, of 90L
  2. Length
    • Longer boards offer a smooth glide and facilitate balance. A board of at least 6' is suggested, also considering the practicality of transport and storage.
  3. Width
    • The width affects maneuverability and lift. For beginners, a wider board is recommended for greater stability, with an intermediate width of around 29'.
  4. Shape
    • The shape of the board, with specific contours and edges, affects the ease of takeoff and the trajectory. Rounder shapes are more sensitive but require more technique.

Table size wing foil according to weight

  • Less than 60 kg: 27' wide and 90L.
  • Less than 75 kg: 29' wide and 105L.
  • Less than 90 kg: 31' wide and 120L.

Other considerations:

  • Total Volume:
    • The total weight of the rider + the weight of the board must be less than the volume of the board.
  • Length and Maneuverability:
    • Shorter boards (under 6') are more agile in turns, while longer boards offer greater stability and ease of sliding.
  • Width and Stability:
    • Greater width provides stability, but it can be an obstacle in tight turns.
  • Shape and Technique:
    • Specific shapes affect the technique needed to balance and the timing of the takeoff.
  • Grosor:
    • A standard of 5' is established, but the volume must be distributed properly.

Initial Table Selection for Beginners

For beginners, a board with sufficient volume, comfortable and safe is recommended.

Recommended relationship: rider's weight as we mentioned + 30 to obtain the minimum Liters from the table.

Inflatable Table vs. Rigid Table

The inflatable boards are suitable for beginners and even intermediates.

Although less appreciated by experienced practitioners, they are practical and fun, especially in moderate conditions.

Selecting the right wing foil table involves finding the balance between comfort, stability, and progression capability.

It is essential to choose a board that adapt to your level and browsing styleAllowing you to enjoy wing foiling without complications.
